Venom: Homecoming
I started my venom comic binge with the 2016 Costa/Sandoval run. Homecoming collects #’s 1-6.
I’m not familiar with the how behind Eddie and Venom’s split but at the start of the series Venom is wandering aimlessly from host to host in search of a home before stumbling upon Lee Price. This is not the lucky break Venom was hoping for. What follows in the comic equivalent of Venom!whump before he finally escapes and is reunited with Eddie in #5 with the help of an unwitting Spider-Man. I won’t go too deep into it but the build up is well worth the wait:

Definitely recommended.

I loved Costa's run, and Homecoming was for me, the part I slogged thru to get to the rest. Mostly because of the lack of Eddie, actually, but I do appreciate that this first run set some new standards for the way the symbiote is portrayed and how the symbiotic relationship can be tilted and out of balance with the wrong host.
